IRCTC refund status: How to check Indian Railways refund status live using chatbot AskDisha

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) allows individuals to check refund status using Ask DISHA, a digital helpdesk. The accessibility of IRCTC services has increased thanks to the AI-powered chatbot Ask DISHA. The chatbot has been responding to users' questions in both Hindi and English.

IRCTC announced on Twitter that its DISHA (Digital Interaction to Request Help Anytime) allows clients to book tickets and seek support for other services via an OTP verification. Users are not required to log in with their IRCTC UserID and password.


According to the IRCTC tweet, passengers can book tickets, cancel and check refund status using new feature of IRCTC’s AskDisha 2.0

As per an IRCTC press release, “IRCTC has recently upgraded its AskDISHA chatbot with the capability to reply live queries from users related to rail ticket refunds arising out of cancellation, TDR filing and failed transactions as these constitute around 50% of the total queries of the customers. The users can now either key in or verbally communicate their PNR or Transaction details to AskDISHA and get their ticket refund status immediately.”

How to check IRCTC refund status

Step 1: Visit IRCTC website
Step 2: Click on AskDisha from right corner of the page
Step 3: Click on ‘Refund Status’

Once you enter your PNR, you will receive a message stating the status. “Refund of Rs. for PNR …… successfully processed against Ref.No. on 2022-07-07. Same may get reflected in your account within 3-4 working days. If not, Please contact your bank/agent with given Ref. No”
